In three weeks my new 100 gallon (UK) tank will be at my door. I will be upgrading from my current 50 gallon tank. This is when the fun will begin, as the new tank will be going on the stand that my old tank is sitting on. The plan I have come up with is to buy a large plastic container of about 30 gallon, half fill it with tank water and top up from the tap. Then transfer the fish into that. This will then allow me to drain the main tank move it to its temporary new home and take out the equipment that is to be transfered to the new tank. Then the fish can be transfered back into the tank. Now I will have all of the fish in the old tank in another part of the house giving me chance to get the new tank set up as I want it.
Can anyone see a problem with doing things this way around? Or have any suggestions that are better?
The next thing is going to be filtration. In my 50 gallon I currently have a fluval 305 and a large air driven sponge filter. I figure that since I'm doubling the size of the tank I'm obviously going to need more filtration so I've gone out and bought a fluval 405
that I am running at the moment in place of my 305 with the media out of the 305, just to get one more try of media cycled. I plan to run all 3 filters in the new tank for a couple of weeks and then maybe lose the sponge filter.
What would be the best way to place the pickups for the externals, next to each other or at opposing ends of the tank?
Thanks in advance.

Mind is shouldn't be to bad as I have let a few friends know that there will be a barrel of beer and a pizza here that weekend
