We have a juwel rekord 60 as a small community tank which was our first tropical tank which we adore, but in the future we plan to get a juwel 300L 76gal US 66Gal UK tank ( gonna have to do some saving up first) my other half loves plecs and would like a fairly big one what recommendations do you have for a type of plec that would enjoy this size tank?
Also any other ideas for stocking?
Our pair of dwarf gouramis, four xray tetra, two peppered corys, 3 male guppies, 2 adfs, 2 japonica shrimp would be transferred into it too. ( I realise our community could do with a few more corys, a couple more tetra, and maybe another female gourami, been doing a lot of learning with our 60L tank  been given so many different bits of advice from lfs and forums alike we have made a few mistakes but it is a happy peaceful community which just needs a bit of tweaking)

Any ideas on possible additions once the tank has been cycled and is ready for our existing guys to go in would be greatfully appreciated ( we are talking several months away yet lol)

Many Thanks :good:

With a tank that size you could have almost any type pleco. Common plecos can grow to 24" but rarely do in a tank. Generally more in the 12" to 18" range. Your tank is large enough but probably the bare minimum for one. Of course, they aren't going to reach that length overnight. It will take them a while to grow and by that time, you will probably have an even larger tank.

LOL we are going for one big upgrade and then thats it don't think our little bungalow could cope with a maaahooooosive tank! If a 300L is bare minimum will investigate and think of rearranging room to see if we can fit a 400L in we want the plec to be as happy as possible! We were thinking of a plec that is going to get about 8" eventually so there is room in the tank if it gets a big bigger as there seems to be lots of debate on plec size. Definately not looking for a tank buster sort! Going to try a sand substrate (not done sand before) and have a planted tank with bogwood going for the natural look have been insipred by some of the tanks on here!

There are some dwarf plecs but they may not get as large as you want. With plecs, it's almost feast of famine so to speak, dwarfs or monsters. I think you will like sand. I've never used anything else except in my 75 gallon which has Eco Complete because I wanted a very nice planted tank.
