Hey all! I lost my last cherry barb in the hospital tank last night. I'm going to clean the tank and set it back up for my last sick fish (my last neon tetra) which will leave no more sick fish in my main tank. It also only leaves my dwarf gourami and three pygmy corys. :( Everything else died (7 neons, 3 cherry barbs and 1 pygmy cory).

My fish had six days of treatment total, is it safe to stop with the remaining fish having no symptoms?

I just read somewhere that now I should take out my wood and plants and rinse them. Is that really necessary? I just dread disassembling my entire tank, especially since my plants are in sand - it's such a pain to replant - but will if I should. I had at least planned to do a big water change and a massive vaccum of the sand. And then replace my carbon filter which I had removed when I started to treat.

How long should I wait to make sure Ich won't recur before starting to add more stock?

Help, please.

Usually once the spots have gone some treat another week, another 3 days, no don't bother with the plants cleaning if its going o be a hassle.

Thanks for the advice! Any ideas why only one of my fish responded to the meds and the rest died? I read that corys don't get Ich so I think it's even weird that one of them died but maybe it was the meds that took him. It's just a major bummer that I treated as soon as I saw the spots but I still ended up losing all but my dwarf gourami. I guess I technically haven't lost my last neon tetra but it doesn't appear that he is responding to the meds either so I just don't want to count on him.

I think I'll do a water change, major vaccum and another round of treatment just to make sure and then do then do another water change and vaccum before I start replenishing my stock again.

Neons and corys are funny with parasite meds, once the parasite gets a hold of the gills they die, sorry for your loses, and gouramis are not hardy fish either.

Thanks for everything, you've been most helpful through this ordeal. Hopefully I won't lose anymore. Especially my gourami, Paul's my favorite.

Good luck, yes gouramis are very cute fish when they are not falling out with one another.
