i was just wondering how is the best way the get the water temp down in a tank, i have turned the heater off and lights but the tank to temp is still to high, so just whats the best way to get the temp down.
you could try letting a fan blow across the top of the water, or i have heard of people freezing water in film cases and letting them float in the tank but have never tried it myself
What temp is the tank currently at?
Increasing the flow of the tank filter so it makes more bubbles will help alot too. You don't want the temp to drop too fast or too much though as this will stress the fish out and may even kill them.
Try dropping an ice cube in every hour and that should make the temp drop a degree or 2. The fan is probably your best bet though, make sure all windows in your place have their curtains/blinds closed but the windows themselves are open, do a 30%water change with dechlorinator ASAP as fish waste in the tank will become alot more toxic and create more ammonia in hot weather so you need to do water changes more often, like 30%water change with dechlorinator once every 4days.
thanks for the advice will try that, one question though i was thinking of putting some ice in but fish like to suck at things will they suck the ice cube and get stuck lol

, no they won't- my fish will try to nibble the ice cubes from time to time but i have yet to see one get its lips stuck to one .
You don't want the temp to drop more than 3degrees a day as even though it is stressful for the fish being in such a hot temp, they cope less well with sudden temperature changes so just try to do a little every day.
