My tank temp is sitting at 26 degrees and one of the fish I want to get is Danios but they say they like cooler waters at 23degrees, will other fish like plecs sharks shrimps tetras barbs like this temp as well or can danios survive at this temp?

Thanks
B

Well most tropical fish like 24C and it may not be a problem if they are in the temperature above

Why is the tank at that temp? Is that what you've set it at or what it gets to naturally?

If it's naturally around that then try to stock with that in mind. It is very hard to cool a tank down significantly but much easier to keep it stable at a higher temp. Most fish will aclimatise but don't like temp swings that much. The main effect of higher temps is a faster metabolism.

No Ive only had the tank for a week now so Im just getting established it was at 29 degrees when I first got the temp up, but turned the heater setting down last night and Ive just got it right at 24 degrees now.

Thanks.
