I have had a look at lots of mbuna tanks and it all seems to be just rocks nothing else i can appriciate plants get destroyed but whats wrong with wood i have various rocks in my tank but i also have mopani wood is there a reason people only use rocks???

hey mark

wood is IDEAL for some soft water community fish but with african cichlids your looking for a higher PH and wood does the opposite, it softens the water, bringing the ph down.

there are many companies out there that make GORGEOUS fake wood pieces, they look extremely real instead of the crappy resin peices you see around  Not to mention when leaching wood often turns the tank a greenish yellow to brown and many cichlidfreaks like myself want a crystal clear tank!

my water ph is 7.6 so i should be ok im putting some more rock in so this should bring it up a tad more i had the problem at the begining with the water but now its cycled its crystal.
