Hey all. I just took my reading again am I am a little confused. Temp 79, PH is 7.0-7.2, Amm .50 to .75 NitrItes 0.00 Nitrates is around 7.0 slightly higher than 5.0 but less than 10.00. Water is very clear and fish are swimming around and eating everytime i feed them. I did so a water change early this morning as my amm was up to 1.0. Since I previously had readings for NitrItes does this mean that the Nitrites are converted to Nitrates right away or did something happen to kill off the bacteria? But why do I still have a reading of Amm. I am guessing the tank is not yet fully cycled then. Has anyone seen this before. Oh I did add 1 more platy to my tank, yes I know I should not have, but my girlfriend bought it for me, she could not resist she said it asked for her to take it home. She is a very pretty gold twinBar platy. No Name for her yet. Does anyone else name their fish? Ok that was off my cycle subject. Thanks for your input

Looks like your tank is still cycling, your bacteria haven't caght up to the bio load produced by your fish yet. Adding more fish won't help but what's done is done :)
Check your stats daily, especially ammonia and nitrite. Keep on top of the water changes if they rise. Change no more than 20-25% at a time tho, making sure you dechlorinate the water before adding it to the tank. (or during / after is probably ok if the filter is switched off during the water change)
I'd surmise that your tank is still in the early stages of it's cycle, the nitrite hasn't started spiking yet. Your fish are in for a bit of a rough time, but with regular water changes you will be able to get them through it :) It might also be worth testing your tap water so you can see what you're adding to the tank. It's not uncommon for some nitrates to be present in the tap water we add to the tank.
As for naming fish, I'd say it's more common than you think ;)

I would do a 10 to 20% water change everyday along with testing your water everyday until you have your readings were they should be.
