i want to put 2 discus in my tank. the tank is 33 US gallons (142 ltr). would it be ok for 2 discus?

The tank would need to be 18" tall, preferably 24". 12" wide would work at a push.

The discus will prefer to be in groups unless they are a proven breeding pair, which will mean you'd also need a bigger tank.

48"x18"x15" is really the smallest you want to go for a group of 5. You NEED to keep a group unless you buy a bonded breeding pair. Breeding pairs are expensive and should only be purchased for breeding for IMO. For the pair the same height and depth stand, and I'd not put 70 neons with them if your sig is correct.

Don't take this the wrong way, but as you've asked this question it suggests you don't know a great deal about Discus. This is really a fish you need to know about before purchasing, if you understand their requirements they are easy to keep, but really you keep the water/tank going and the discus will be fine. In short, you need a higher tempt than normal (30C) and soft water with a neutral to low pH, for this you'll probably want to invest in an RO unit. You need to keep the tank really clean and feed adults 2-3 times a day. For beginners fish around 4" and above are easier to keep than juveniles that require more feeding and more water changes.

Search the forum for more info, there are lots of good posts on Discus.

Yeah

1. 70 Neons in a 30 gallon = huge bio-load + over stocked
2. 2 Discus will be very shy, very aggressive between each other, and be very stressed easily
3. Discus like to eat Neons.... MMMM
