Tank Set Up Fpr A 40 Gallon

Hello yall,
This is my first post and am excited to be here. I want to know what a good set up like where should I place the aquaclear filter and heater and the airstone. I seen in pet store they have some in the middle sometimes on the side, i dunno. Which is best?

I would put the airstone and the aquaclear on opposite sides of the tank. The hang on back filters tend to not circulate the water real well and the airstone will help slightly if it is not near the filter. The heater should just be somewhere were there is some water flow, most people put them near the filter.

Thank so much! Should I put the heater standing staight or lay it flat near bottom. This for a planted tank.

i dont think it matters how the heater goes, it just should be near where the water circulates.
