Hi,

I have set up and cycled a 5 gallon corner eclipse and I have some questions:

How many cory cats is it ok to but with a male betta in this tank?

I checked my water and my nitrates were a bit high, will Tetra:Easy Balance do the job?

Are my amozon sword plants betta and cory friendly?

thanks for all the help ;)

Unfortunately none. Cories need to be kept in groups and need a much more mature tank as they are very sensitive. 5gal wouldn't be big enough for them and a Betta. You could have Ottos in that size tank but again the tank needs to be mature before adding them.

Otoclincus.......are smaller than cories but are very good at keeping the tank clean and clearing up the algea. We were amazed at how quickly ours got to work :good:

If you google the name you'll see what they look like.

You could have 3 maximum but you'd have to wait quite a while before adding them as the tank will need time to mature.

Also, if your nitrates are high, don't add any chemicals to bring them down, you don't need to. Just do a 25-50% water change. My (mothers) betta tank is also 5 gals and I change that much 2-3 times a week to keep the nitrates low.
