I have two aqua start 320s set up for my bettas. They are 28ltr tanks. I have a couple of questions in relation to tank placement and lighting.

Do they need the fluro lights on? Mine seem to like it when there tank is just lit up by the natural room light and its not bright light. I turn their lights on at night most nights for a few hours so they can swim round while we sit in the lounge.

Also...

I have both my tanks on the kitchen bench. It is a main walk way through the house. Do you think they should be somewhere where people dont constantly walk past? Where they are now they look down over our sunken lounge. They love it when we sit in our arm chairs next to them and cook food on the bench next to them so i didnt think it would matter. But it occured to me they may like a peacefull spot? I only ask this, because i would like to try spawning Ramjet and Shimmer just once. All though the needing 100s of containers for the babies as they get bigger does kind of put me off. I was thinking of a seperate tank and just putting the bubs in their and giving them to the aquarium when they get to a better size after a few months.

One of them is next to the kitchen window so he has a lot of natural light in his tank.

On a side note - Ramjet has made a bigger bubble nest this time! In the same spot though.

Lights are more for the people than the fish. Unless the lights are incredibly bright, it's mostly all the same to them.

I think a place where people constantly walk past is the perfect place for a betta. They are very social fish and seem to really like watching what's going on. Most of my bettas will follow my hand around the tank as if to inspect my cleaning. I think they're good where they are.

As to the breeding, I can't help you there. It's not something I've ever really been interested in, so I know virtually nothing about it.
