I thought that another reason it was closed was because the mods didnt have time to keep up with it.

I personally think that you dont need a mod to run the comp. like the POTM isnt run by a mod. That one is always up to date.

Also, with the cheating thing, I think that you should have at least three pics of the tank/fish in order to prove it. That seems better. But I only know of one cheating incident.

Just thought i'd add. I think I speak for most people on tff when I say that we REALLY want otm comps back but we understand that it is a time consuming thing and very difficult to moderate cheaters and such. I just want to say that we support you in whatever you decide to do. I like the mod voted otm comps but I agree it is a bad idea. It would cause friction between members and mods. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

I think they should bring it back too. I remember it was more of an issue of the mod who controlling it being just lazy. The polls would run for months and the polls wouldn't go up until members (freshmike) finally took the liberty of making a xOTM post themselves
I'm pretty sure if they let someone like gf225 run the competitions it would be a success, or anyone else who's responsible enough for that matter. Putting a screen name in front of the tank would limit the ability to take better tank pictures without flash, so multiple angles would be better. Hope it comes back all in all!

The rules must be simple the tag rule is good for identification.
I would suggest that it is an open comp where you decide to enter your tank and that you may only submit photo of a tank every 6 months.

meduim 35g up to 60g

here is no reason to try and push these things. Itll hapen if and when mods and Will decide they want it back. As said before, they do discuss any suggestion brought too them by members, so i really dont think BRING IT BACK tactics will work.

I think its an essential area of all online forums, and may decrease the number of people joining. I enjoy the *OTM comps on other boards im on, and so does evryone. I wish people didnt cheat, but thats just the way people are sometimes im afraid.

i moderate a series of OTM competitions on another forum,

if someone is found cheating(and trust me, its not hard to find out if they have) they're banned from any future competitions.
another thing we have done is made to sepreate FOTM comps, one for good photos and one for not so good photos, giving people a chance, eliminating the need for cheating.

lol i think your a bit harsh there ,if i remember rightly the guy was sitting some major exams so time was at a premium.while everyone would love instant answers to questions or comps ,people have there lives to live too.

Yeah you could say all entries must have a shot of the tank in full view and one from an angel with a peice of paper with your username on it. simple.
