So ive decided to start keeping fish. I have a 20g tank currently . Bout two weeks old i have one crypto plant and one anubis . 5 neon tetras 2 red cherry shrimp and one crown betta . My what seems very cloudy almost grey and no matter what i do it wont clear i have regular black gravel with laterite for the plants . I will upload a pic

Did you cycle your tank? You have to cycle your tank if you want your fish to survive? How often are you doing water changes? What are your parameters? How much are you feeding? If you didn't cycle the tank then this is most likely a bacterial bloom. It is harmless to the fish but if the ammonia and nitrite levels are high then that is a problem. If you didn't cycle your tank I would recommend returning your fish to where you bought them and do a fish less cycle. If you can't then do a fish in cycle. The fish in cycle lasts a lot longer than the fish less and it puts the fish though a lot of pain.

i have the water at a 7.0 ph level and i am feeding the fish twice a day once in the morning and once at night. i am changing the water every 3 days

If you want good help test your water and post your ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels.

Ok will do. I have the 5 in one test strips. Will that be sufficent to deliver a accurate test?

Not really, they are somewhat inaccurate. And I don't believe they have an ammonia test, do they?

I would use the API Master Test Kit. It is in liquid form. I wouldn't recommend the test strips because they are inaccurate.

Yeah the tetras might fin nip the betta, but all fish are somewhat different so you might be okay. :)

+1 on the API test kit but the fuzzy ness take a look at my journal and look at my last picture dose t look similar to this as it maybe from your gravel or laterite if so then it will settle over time and water changes should help :)

Yeah water changes are never a bad thing to do. ;)
