Hi guys. It's been a while since I last logged in. My bettas are long gone now, but never forgotten.

I am resetting one of my Azoo candy tanks with driftwood and java fern. I have two questions.

1 - How do I get rid of the tint in the water that is coming from the driftwood?

2 - There are these little green mites that crawl on the wood. They are light green like the java fern, but they crawl like jumping spiders. Is this something to worry about or are these food for a certain ytpe of aquatic creature?

Thanx.

Bogwood encourages mites, remove the bog wood and give it a good clean, plus i would give the betta accomdation a good go over too.

Should I run it under hot water and scrub with a clean sponge? Are those mites detrimental?

Hot salty water, leave i to soak a while in the water, rinse well, and let dry out for a day, if you see any more mites remove them with a net if you can.
Trying to find some info but not having much look.

Thanx for the advice! Much appreciated. Are invertebrates that eat these aphids? I would prefer a predator rather than a chemical.

I think that carbon absorbs the tint in the tank, but yeah for the wood just give it a good scrub.
