i have a 20 gallon done cycling it has 5 platys 2 guppies and one bn plecoany ideas?

There are other members in the family, just as suitable.

Will a discus work or will it kill them all?

Tank is to small and discus are not for beginners. They have special requirements and your other fish will not like them.
