Iv been researching for awile now and cant find to many tank mates for my GT. I really want a rope fish and a electric blue lobster. some say these will be ok and others say it cant be done. My GT is still realtivly small at 4", and looks lonley in the 55g. Iv heared he wont attack a rope fish because of its shape  is this true? But being a owner of a GT I also know them to be some what unpredictable givin the right conditions. Basically im just wondering what you guys keep in with your GT's and how they behave with your tank mates  Thanks for the info guys, its very much appritiated! :good:

Well im not sure about the ropefish and the lobster but i know that Jack dempseys and oscars are ok, i will have the three in my tank but its a 90G im not sure with the size issue in a 55.

I wouldn't think a lobster would be alright.. lobsters like trying to eat fish don't they?.. and I would think a green terror would probably like to try to eat a lobster too..

Couldn't tell you about ropefish sorry.

Thats what I heared. But I also heared that the shape of the Lobster like the rope fish makes it unappitising for the GT. But then again I dont trust LFS anymore, I come here for my info :good: I dont think I would be able to fit a dempsey in my 55 howery, at least I dont think so  do you guys have any ideas for tank mates? I was thinking along the lines of Invertabrits, or oddballs.

a senegal bichir maybe?

Not positive on this though.. they can reach 12''.. I have one in my 55g tank, but it's not 12'' yet so I couldn't really tell you if it's a good idea or not long-term.

LoL, It would definatlly give me an excuse for a new tank though! maybe I should get one! The old ladie said no more tanks. she didnt say I couldnt upgrade one! Would a Senegal take the same water conditions?

Mine lives in the same as my cichlids.. so I don't see why not..

I don't really check my water though.. I just know the ph is close to 7 straight from the tap.

I am trying giant danios with my JD. Still don't know if its going to work out, but I think they will be too fast for the JD to even consider as a meal, plus I keep my guy well fed so I don't think he will need a snack in between feedings. They will make a good dither fish to make your GT more bold and colorful as well!

I thought giant danios were too fast for my severums.. boy was I wrong.. seeing a 2'' giant danio coming out the mouth of a 3'' severum is an interesting sight to say the least.

My Jack Dempseys show no agression toward my snakefish (then again they show little agression to anything else exept each other).
Although GT are more aggresive than JDs, they should be fine with a pair or trio of snakefish. Feed the snakefish on prawns.
