Tank Mates For An Oscar

As part of the deal of me putting a 5ft tank in the living room i promised to get the other half some fish...

Now, the whole point i got the tank is i have 2 oscars (only 2-3" long), i know they can get upto 12" long.

What sort of tank mates can i have?

She would prefer a shoaling group.... failing that something colourful lol

what are the full dimensions of the tank? as height and width will heavily effect potential stocking.

In a 5x2x2 for instance a nice group of 5-6 large clown loach may provide a colourful shoal for your other half

I have an Albino Oscar in a tank with a Pleco, Convict Cichlid, and a crayfish....as well as the odd goldfish (as food) the goldfish get eaten, but the other fish are fine together, and the convict and the oscar swim around together.

silver dollars are the most commonly kept shoaling fish with oscars , altho personally theyre not my cup of tea

What about a group of flagtails. Though they do grow pretty slow, you might need a bigger tank in the future.
