Tank lights

How long should I leave the light on in the aquarium? Right now I leave it on all the time but I'm wondering if I should turn it off at night or durung the day at all. There isn't a whole lot of natural light coming into the room as the windows have a lovely view of the wall of the next apartment building.

I have a 5 gallon tank with a betta and two black topped corys, if that makes a difference.

Leave it on for 12 hours a day. Fish need sleep too

Anything from 10-12 hours is required if you have live plants in your tank. Otherwise you can have it switched on for less time.

I turn on my tank lights in the morning when the sun light light bright then I turn it off when I go to bed. Real easy ^__^
