Hello, hope you are all doing well today.

I have a 35 gallon that I believe is fully stocked.

These are the fish that I currently have:

3 Tiger Barbs
6 Golden Barbs
6 Cherry Barbs
1 Red-tailed black shark
1 Very Small Pleco

Apparently my pleco is common pleco, I saved him from a friends 10 gal tank he spent nearly 2 years in. I believe his growth has been stunted because he has not grown within the last 8 months of getting him.

(see, he’s small, so don't tell me to return him lol)

What I would like to do is add 3 yoyo loaches if possible. I my tank is pretty stocked as is, but I have got a bit over kill on the filters. Currently I have:

Aqua Clear 200 (200 gph rated for 50 gal tanks)

Aqua Clear 200 (200 gph rated for 50 gal tanks)
(not a typo, I have 2)

Aqua-Tech 20-40 (160 gph rated for 40 gal tanks)
-its from walmart, but says it is made by Marineland, similar to the penguin series so I'm told

I am also running an under gravel filter.

Overall I am pulling in 560 GPH + whatever the under gravel filter does, it’s a 35 gallon tank.

I have been keeping fish for about 6 or 7 years now, but did not really know what I was doing until the past 2.5 years. This tank has been setup for 5 years, and has almost been running with these same fish for nearly 2 years. In this time I have never had any loss of fish or diseases. I am worried that adding 3 loaches will over do it, but because of my over kill on the filters I may be alright. Sorry about the long post, but what do you think, can I add anymore fish?

Thanks for all your thoughts and suggestions,
Have a good day.

I also believe there is enough swimming room and hiding places for all the fish. And currently everyone gets along great, no fin nipping etc.

I would advise filling out the school of tiger barbs first. Tiger barbs do best in schools of 6 or more. If your tank is still doing well, think about adding the yoyo loaches at that point.

Thanks for the advice,

The tiger barbs are my oldest fish and seem very healthy and active and have been for about 2 years now. I would really rather get some loaches before anything else.

Does anyone know if my tank can safely have more fish in it?

You could probably get 3-5 small loaches, such as dwarf chains, zebras or something similar... Just remember not to go too overboard as if your plec IS a common, it WILL get big, however as i said in the other thread, not so sure about it myself..

Ben
