Hello! I'm looking for some input on what i should house in my 55gal tank. I want to have some cichlids because i have 2 oscars at work and they have wonderful personalities. However, i also want to be able to house a number of different species, and not be limited to having just one or 2 fish in the tank.

So i guess what it comes down to is i would like cichlids that will get along fairly well (possibly with other non-cichlid tankmates), and small enough to house a few different species.

If anyone has any ideas or thoughts, it would be greatly appriciated!! Thanks!

Well, you could house some of the more peaceful mbuna (I know a contradition in words ;) ). Your could keep around 15 adults in your tank, I'd suggest 3 species of 5 individuals each. And as far as non-cichlid tankmates, unfortunately even with the more peaceful mbunas I'd only recommend adding a bn plec or two, and/or any of the synodontis catfish species.

Some of the more peaceful mbuna:
