I have a tank my mom got for me from someone who got rid of it for $5... it was a mess when she got it home. A yellow, salt encrusted mess. (I guess it was previously used for saltwater fish.) I didn't think I'd ever get it clean.
I cleaned it up like crazy to get it into shape and I finally did (the cleaning actually took longer than the cycling it was that bad)... but there is one spotty problem...
This happens.
Its this filmy stuff. I can't get rid of it. It looks like someone wipes their fingerprints all over the glass. (it's on the outside.)
I've used windex. When you first spray and wipe it, it goes away, but once the windex dries, it comes back. I windexed it like 100x. So then I took white vinegar and wiped it. Same thing. Tried plain water, same thing. It keeps coming back.
it's not anything that detracts from the tank. In fact, no one else noticed it till I pointed it out... but it annoys me. What can I do to get rid of it... or could this just be a flaw I'm stuck with because of the poor condition the tank arrived to me in?
