Like the description says, can I do two males in a split 10g tank or would they stress each other out too much?

Where is the description? and what type of fish are you separating?

Are you talking about betta's. Should be fine but I would check with other members. :good:

Sorry, the topic description --- I currently have two male Betta splendens each in their own 1.5 gallon tank. I'd like to get one 10G tank and just put a divider in the middle, however I know that they will become stressed sometimes even just seeing each other that closely.

That said, I'd like to be sure I can do it prior to buying the tank. Perhaps find some sort of non toxic, waterproof material to adhere to the divider so that they cannot see each other?

that will be fine, they eventually get bored of each other and tend to ignore there neighbour after a while :good:

Yes, will be fine.

Just consider that some bettas will not give up flaring at each other even when given places to hide. I had to take fine grit sand paper and sand my divider so it was opaque. A week of non-stop flaring and retreating to corners in distress/exhaustion prompted me to do this. Worked great. The guys just flared at shadows here and there.

HOWEVER, ensure that the divider is tight on all sides/corners and that there is a large enough gap from the surface of the water to the top of the divider. I lost 2 bettas in a matter of 1 hour after moving a tank and having a very small gap form between the tank wall and the divider. They had torn eachother to pieces and both died within a week after separation. Just a heads up as it was very sad and can happen too easily with bettas.
