I have been loosing fish everyday. I had lost 4 fish in 2 days. What is happening. I havea 33 gal tank with a big wand a filter a heater? I do water change every 2 weeks and vaccum gravel every 1 month. 1 feed my fish once every 2 days. I have 2 sharks 2 gouramis 3 gold fish. They have been all fine. Water stats are good. i made a water test yesterday it was fine. Most of my fish fins are liked nip or something like this they live for 1 day then dead? What is happening. Should i do a water a change soon? What can i do i am going tomorrow to test the water in LFS to see what is happening. Plz Help.
There are some things which you are doing which i would not advise doing which could be contributing to your fishes demise;
a. Ideally you should do a 30-60% water change once a week to help keep lower and more stable nitrates and to help lower general desease levels in the water.
b. You should ideally clean your gravel once a week, gravel traps a lot of waste in it and this waste can rot and fowl the water quality, or harbor nasty deseases like columnaris.
c. Goldfish are coldwater fish and there are not any shark type fish or gourami's i can think of which are coldwater- mixing coldwater and tropical fish is not advised, as fishes metabolisms are controlled by the temp of the water that surrounds them. Fish which have evolved to live in coldwater or tropical temperatures which are then put in the wrong temps, will mess up their metabolisms and will make them more likely to fall ill to deseases/parasites or simply not live as long as they should etc. 29 degrees is far too hot for goldfish.
What water stats are you testing for and what results are you getting exactly from the tests?
Well i went today and checked my water at the Lfs after loosing this huge number of fish. After doing the test result i discovered that my water has alot of lime in it which is causing my fish to die. He gave a medicine called (Sera turbo cleaner), it cleans the water from the lime, he also gave me (Sera phosvec) which is for the gravel, and make the gravel clean and look better. He told me first to do a water change and gravel cleaning before adding the medicines. After this he told me to add the both medicines at the same time. Can lime also plays a role in brown algea growing? I hope u can help me? I want to ask also if i should always add from the medicine whenever i do a water change or a gravel cleaner. I ahve in my tank 3 goldfish 2 sharks and 2 gouramis. Tank temperature 29 celcius. I have a rock and a bio wheel and a 50 cm wand. And an internel filter.
Sera turbo clear supposedly encourages the biological filtration in tanks, but such products tend to be worthless as there is no way of keeping the beneficicial filter bacteria alive in a bottle which has no oxygen or water movement in it and is not refrigerated. This product, however, will not make things like gravel look cleaner regardless of whether it works or not, as this is not its purpose.
The Phosvec binds phosphates in water, but how this can help your problem i don't see how- i think you have been sold two products which are not of any great help in your situation.
Most petshop staff are not very knowledgable on fishkeeping, and ultimately they are just there to sell you things, and as many as posible if they can help it. A garage is not there to tell you how to be a good and knowledgeable driver just as much as a petshop is not there to tell you how to be a good and knowledgeable fishkeeper etc.
There is nothing in the hobby that can make up for a lack of water changes and substrate cleaning sessions, just as there isn't anything that can make up for us washing ourselves in showers/bathes etc in the long term. Nothing beats a good old fashioned water changes and substrate cleaning sessions, and i think your fishes bad health is probably at least partly down to a lack of tank cleaning maintanence etc.
The brown algae growth will be down to things like the strength of lighting in the tank and things like nitrates levels.
Are you familiar with the Nitrogen cycle or cycling tanks? If not, i would advise reading the article in the below link as it will explain a lot on how the water quality in your tank works, as i think you have certain things confused as to how water quality works;

Feeding fish once every 2 days, particularly with small fish which are still growing (which yours most likely are), is not advisable (particularly if they are sick/dying and need lots of good nutrition), most types of aquarium fish (like yours) do best on a couple of small meals a day.
If your fishes fins look nipped it is likely that this is either Finrot (a desease) or the result of fish bulling each other in the tank (which is not unlikely depending on the types of sharks and gourami's you have, goldfish are also known to fin nip). Are they showing any other symptoms whether behavioral or physical?
You need to sort out the stocking of your fish tank and do more regular tank maintanence in particular- do you use dechlorinator/water conditioner to treat any new water you put in the tank? When you do a water change, how much do you take out on average?
