youll have to show us what it looks like when its done. maybe you could get some ideas from here too :)

thats a great tank incubus. is that slate that you have used? and are those plants real?

yep i suppose i can, Royal is having the black and white gravel out my fry tank then will get them a few plants and a cave or something each :good:

Mine's nothing fancy, but the boys like it. I'd love to take out the stupid skull but they like to sleep in them, and search the tank when they are gone. Silly bettas.

Nothing fancy

I had a cave thing in there with the short plant, but he never slept in the cave. The cave made the water stink like sulfur, so I took it out and added the tall plant. He loves to sleep in the tall plant now :)

we looking at real or fake plants here?
.... they look real to me. and all very nice tanks

very good fakes then cos they look real. he ok with them?

i like the sand much better than gravel. know bettas coudnt care a less bout it but i want it to look nice.
real plants ok with sand?
is that a frog in the corner?

Yes that is a frog. IMO they do a lot better in sand, as mine likes to dig. You can keep one if with your betta, though they do have a tendency to get a little snappish and he might have to be hand fed... no worries... they don't bite. Plants don't mind sand, it doesn't really differ from gravel, though most plants will want to have root tabs or a nutritional substrate, unless of course you want something like java ferns or anubias or java moss, which attach to rocks/wood/ornaments. Or some low need plants, like crypts or vallisneria. I really reccomend cryptocoryne because I have a stub that I found, it was just a root with a little stemp sticking out, and I put a little fingerful on substrate and some sand in my 10g breeding tank and it is doing wonderful, plus you can get anything from grassy to bushy.

EDIT: Also, sand is quite a bit easier to clean. All the poop just goes on the top (don't worry, it doesn't usually show) so all you need is a quick gravel vac, plus you can tell when it needs to be cleaned.
