hiya,

does anyone have sugestions on decorating a tank, ive had mine set up for a year now and i think its time for a change, oh and i have a bad agley problem and would like to get rid of everything covered in it )

i will keep all of the water

it currently has plain gravel rocks and a few plants....oh and a few plastic plants....for my goumis to sleep behind....stops them nibbling my live plants at night

in my tank i have fish that like caves, some that like open spaces and some that like plants :D

all suggestions, images welcome
ohhhhh ive just had an amonia spike, seems to have gone away.....should i leave it a bit before i referb or will it be ok?
:fish:

if you boil the rocks that will kill any algea spores on them.
be carfull though as rocks will hold their heat for a long time
so don't burn youself.

As for decoating your tank just do what you think will be good
trial and error works for me.
Take a look in the members aquarium picture to get some ideas and also check out the totm archive

Maybe you should go for a themed tank, like South American rainforest with all the mangrove roots and stuff (though if you don't want coloured water go for a carbon filter!). Depends really, though I think you should go mangrove, because it will give your cave-loving fish somewhere to hide! Amazon Swordleaf and Java-Fern are just some of the hardy plants that you could put in (my Java-Fern even stays alive with puffers on the go!)

its 4ft by 1 and a half

i liked the idea of the south american tank, the tank will be shaded for my cats. do you have any pics of what you mean ;)

ill post a pick later on today of what it looks like now, it was supposed to look like one of the cichlid african lakes but i think the theme has been lost over the year

Errr...not at the moment will try and get one!!!

You see I don't have it in my tank, I think quite a few others on this site have them a little like what I mena, will do a search soon!

Well, I did a google search and I found a picture sort of like what I mean, it isn't that clear, but go to (exact address)

http://www.mongabay.com/fish/images/big_tank.jpg

Hope this helps! ;)

I was thinking a bit like that but with more bog wood, like roots from trees like in mangroves. You could try a search on mangroves and see what comes up, whatever you do, I hope your fish will be happy, keep me updated!

(and bring me as many pics as you can! :kewlpics: )
