this might some stupid to the more experienced of u, but are the rocks in my back garden ok for decor in my tank. Its a 4ft tank but i dont have any real hiding places for my fish, (plec, clown loach, sailfin mollys, bovarian rams, all these ones like to hide) just now iv just got an old looking vase which they fight over, im thinking big, something for a center piece??????????

hey, it depends on the type of rocks they are!!
remember that anything you add can change water attributes (hardness and ph levels etc), which i'm sure you may know need to be stable and particular to suite your fish. more *permeable (*allow liquids to pass through/penetrate) rocks such as limestone (which i'm guessing will turn your water more alkaline)will effect the water attributes more than harder less permeable rocks such as slate. i'd stick to the hard stones, flint/ slate etc but make sure they're well washed off before you introduce them. if your still not sure just buy them from your local fish shop!
hope you all agree?

Thanks. yeah but the ones in my local fish shop are small, im loooking for large ones to make a centre piece of them

how about your local garden centre or builders supplys for larger ornamental garden rocks that could be cost effective
