I was browsing the tank selection on some websites and when I move out I plan on getting a LARGE tank.... I was scanning through the larger tanks and the prices were huge for just the tanks themselves.... anyone have a larger tank? is this right? there were 300gallon for about $5,500 US for the setup... Is this expensive... I Would think to buy some wood and glass/acrylic would be A LOT cheaper should you be so inclined to do so......

I rather buy one then make by own and have 300 gallons of water all over the house.

that does seem a bit high. a local store here is selling a 225 gallon with the wooden stand and hood/lights for $800. i'd shop around some more before settling for a price like that

only thing that's set in stone is that we're going on holiday there in october.

it's looking very likely though, the more research we do the more it sounds like a good idea. can't think of any drawbacks as yet, it really helps that my mum's being a complete cow about it, won't miss her at all if she carries on behaving as she is! lol

Sorry to go off topic, but my mum's friends moved to Canada 3 years ago. Sold their crappy two bed apartment in Hampshire for £120,000 and bought a massive house with a pool for the same money!!! They are very happy.

yup it's the houses that are the big draw for me, we can sell our 1 bed terrace and buy a 3/4 bed detached house for the same money. :D

Still staying off topic....what are the wages like though? I lived in Ireland for 5 years, and while the wages were fantastic, (i was on abt 3x my current wage),the houses were beyond belief. One of my friends paid 300,000for a 2bed house with a miniscule garden, and thought it was a bargain.

We've worked it out assuming Ian (who's a trained ceiling fitter) has to go back to working as a general labourer and assuming i go back to doing basic admin/secretarial/reception type work and allowing for the equity we have in our house now we can comfortably afford a mortgage on a CA$200,000 house (roughly £90-100k) which would be 3/4 bed detached, nice garden, nice area :good:

can't complain!!

Dear Miss Wiggle

If you'll be earning better money and are getting a lovely new house well it seems to me that as you are both going to be working full time you will need someone to help keep said new house spick and span. After much thought I will be willing to give up my life here and come with you to work as your maid! I am available for a immediate start so please let me know when we're going! :ring:

Yours faithfully
Loach!
