I have some Ember tetras and 2 dwarf gourami in my 35ltr tank. It has sand on the bottom.
Now they have all settled in i would like something to help keep the tank bottom clean.
I was thinking shrimp of some kind but any suggestions welcome, not sure what the best thing is to go for
Thanks

Snails would do a good job cleaning the tank. Shrimp don't really appreciate sand they prefer gravel

+1

Apologies for hijacking the thread, but need similar advice for my Fluval edge. Suggestions welcome :)

What sort of snails could i have? i thought all snails breed rampantly and you find thousands in the tank!
i dont want loads in there

Not all species breed 'rampantly' I find Malaysian Trumpet snails brilliant algae and left over food eaters :look:

IMO snails are the most pointless cleaners going im sure they make more mess that they clean. If you dont want to end up with loads something like an apple snail would work but they make crazy amounts of waste. I would go for Cherry shrimp or a group of Pygmy corys.
The other thing is watch out with the Dwarf gouramis, What sex are they?

They are male (i believe not 100% certain) but i have good borders with my plants for territory and am keeping a close eye on them, both eating, no fighting seen as yet but if any i will remove one.
I would like cherry shrimp. will look into those thanks, i like corys but feel i might be over stocking with fish then, hence thinking of shrimp!
