The 55 gallon that I found on the side of the road seems to have pretty bad water/fish poo/and just wear and tear stains. I can't find a cleaner that will work to clean it off. I've tried Windex, some glass cleaner stuff my dad had under his sink, and isopropyl alcohol. None of it worked. The stains are all still there. Can someone give me a cleaner that will work wonders, and I can get it for cheap, or this tank is going in the trash, or just put somewhere where I could use it as a hospital tank, or something like that...

you have to be really careful with the chemicals you use alot of them even trace ammounts of the chemical can kill the hardiest of fish

I will be rinsing it with amonia then washing it out with water for about an hour or two after I'm done, so I think it will be alright. Any suggestions though?

First try vinegar, this works for mineral stains due to hard water. If that doesn't work, Sno-Bowl toilet bowl cleaner removes everything I can think of, except scratches. Do this outside, wear gloves, goggles, and a long sleeved jacket you won't mind messing up. You need to rinse like you've never rinsed anything before, as it's hydrochloric acid.

I wouldn't suggest this unless I had done it before, which I have. Be careful around seams, if they are a little loose it will loosen them more. This works on glass tanks, I wouldn't try it on acrylic.

Do not skimp on the safety gear!

I would say vinigar, this gets the worst of stains off from water lines, poo and even bird poo from the bottom of old bird cages.

Should I just use regular plain vinegar? lol Alright, I'll see if I can go out tonight to get some then I'll clean it later tonight. :) Hopefully it works.

I'm going to check right now. Will report back.

I have some, but maybe not enough, so I called my mom and told her to pick me up some. So I'll probably clean it after dinner.

So yeah. I just cleaned the tank. I don't know if it worked, but I dried it off and it looks better than it did... So maybe that's a good thing, hopefully I can start buying stuff for it soon, but I just need a stand...
