In another topic on here recently, it was brought up that its best off putting some form of backing along the back of a tank to give an enclosed impression to the fish. Personally, my tanks in such a position that I'd like to be able to see it from back and from the front.

I was wondering if anyone has ever tried putting some form of one way or dark window tint onto the tank-of the type normally seen on limo's, but which can be bought as a cheap plastic stick on film by boy racers. I've also seen a similar one way mirror coating, though I'm not sure if that would create problems/confusion with the fish.

Anyone tried this, or can see any reasons for or against?

Can't think of anything against it. I used to have a tank with a mirror back, just to give it the appearance of depth. This caused no problems for the fish. However if you went down the one way mirror route, it wouldn't actually make the fish feel enclosed.

Yes this would be a bad idea

The fish would see the tint from both sides, only giving them light from the ends of the tank
