Any advice on what type/colour background I should have for my new tank? It is a 54x15x24 inch tank with a few silk plants & bogwood. I will be keeping 2 Bala sharks, 4 Silver Dollars & 1 Plec of some sort.

Any advice ideas appreciated.

I agree with red-devil0602.

All of my tanks have black backgrounds with black substrate. For me basic black works because it puts the focus on the color of the fish.

Ok thanks - Are they self-adhesive or do you just sticky tape them to the back of the tank?

My backgrounds are plasic without ashesive. I cut them a tad longer than the glass so I could insert the ends under the lip of the top and bottom frames. Celophane tape was used on the sides. It's nice to put the background under the frame so water doesn't drip between it and the glass.

This is what i do aswell

Black council bin bags are my background of choice- though I've tried to arrange them so I don't have Refuse written all over the back of my tank.

I just use a simple blue background. I have not tried it yet as I haven't figured out a way to get my hand behind the tank but some people say they use a light coat of vaseline between the background and the glass to help smooth it out. I do know that where I had gotten some water between the background and the glass and it stuck, the color was much more vivid so I want to trythe vaseline thing soon.
