Tank Arrangement

Do fish prefer a stable layout in the tank, or does it enrich their lives to have the layout changed occasionally?
 
I am sure it varies by species, I have 5 male guppies, 2 Long Fin Albino Plecos, and one amano shrimp.

Apart from the actual moving around of the tank furnishings I wouldn't think they are too bothered. Any 'hiding' fish will soon locate another place to hide and the free-swimmers probably couldn't give a monkeys either way.

the only issue i see with a moving environment within a small tank is the stress thats applied to the fish when you move their environment. as well as any leftover fish feces and anything else gets sturred back up and introduced back into the tank water rather than be settled on the bottom of the tank under the substrate
