Tank And Filter Advice For A Newbie

Im no expert warehouse but generally the most popular is API freshwater master test kit.Prices vary but cheapest is usually Ebay at around £20.
The test enables you to test Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate and PH.

Thank You biglittlefish. There appear to be 2 forms of this kit, the one I can get quickly is called a "liquid" version, but seems to be more expensive. Is there a benefit to this?

The liquid version is the one I would reccomend as it is felt by the majority on here that it is more accurate than the test strips.

API Liquid based Master test kit is the one i use. :good:

co2 is not a necessity. There are plenty of plants that will grow quite happily without co2.

Thanks Tom, I have decided not to go down this route for now, but to concentrate on getting the fishless cycling right and a decent setup and happy healthy fish. Whilst I'll definately be planting a few live plants, the Co2 will be looked at a lot further down the line.

Thank again Tom, I'll pick one up on my way home tonight. Ammonia was purchased lunchtime so I'm ready to start logging!

Just wondering, what is the best etiquete when posting daily water readings as the cycle progresses? Is it best to start a new thread in this section or somewhere else?
