hey guys the tank i currently have empty and ear marked for a couple of bricardi has caves etc but they are formed with peices of wood rather then with rocks, is this going to be ok?

That's pretty much it - you need to make sure the wood doesn't have an affect on the water - harder woods like mopani tend to have very limited affect but many others drive the paramters down, which is exactly what we don't want for Tangs.

the only way to find out is just by testing your water, wood will defineately cause a drop in ph, also especially mopani wood in my experience can discolour your water even if you do allow it to leach out in buckets before its in the tank, in my opinion wood has no place in a tang tank.

I have had some success in keeping African root wood with tangs. The African root wood did not leach any tannins in the water so the pH was not affected.
