im starting to pick up all the essentials for my soon to be tanganyika tank, i don't really want to use ocean rock as i have it in my malawei tank which will be right next to the tanganyika tank.

so what rock do people use in there tanganyika tanks? what looks good that isnt ocean rock? just want some ideas really, and if it doesnt cost the earth thats a bonus  :good:

well BEFORE yesterday my tank was half piles of rock half sand beds. I payed attention to the needs of the fish I had in there. cyps like open water with rock towers to retreat in.
featherfins like sand beds and of course the shellies like sand beds too.

I said BEFORE...I woke up yesterday morning to the cross bar/glass support hanging!!! The silicone had released and the whole front glass was bowed out. One wrong move and BOOOOSSHHHHH
bye-bye fish.
 I'm NOT a happy camper right now!

ouch thats no good! u gonna fix it or just replace it?

what type of rock is good though beside ocean rock i just want a different type of rock more than anything, need ideas :good:

going to try and fix it today with an extra pair of hands later. (pray fo rme LOL  )

rolled river stone comes in different colors and stacks up so well!
of course so does flat flag stone.

river stone might work, though i tuink ill be using lots of epoxy resin and silicone with the height of these stacks lol!

how many stack do u recommend in the 6x2x2?

concider the tank prayed for as well

It's all up to you, if you want one huge stack on one side and then a few here and there, go for it, if you want 6 piles, go for it! LOL Once you start, you'll figure it out :good:
I've tried to silicone stones, never worked for long for some reason  they'd stick for a while then all of a sudden as I'm moving them.....POP...talk about potential heart attacks!! :hyper:

i think 2 big piles then one either side right upto the top of the tank :D i have some resin stuff that used for reef building it should work nicley.

maximus got any pics of your tank mate so i can have a nosey?

Yeah mate go to the bottom(ish) of page 8 in my sig to see how it looked a little while back :good:

I've added even more to that now, but don't have anyway of taking a photo
