I have recently ran out of money for the next week or two and therefor cannot buy anymore of the product to de-chlorinate the water. I have a fluval chi and alot of water evaporates every night so i have to top it off every morning (about 500ml). because i ran out of the product and will not be able to purchase any i was wondering what can i do to the tap water to less harm the tank. Its a fresh water tank that has been cycled and has one beta in it. sorry if the question sounds kinda stupid.

If you leave your water in a container for 72 hours it will be safe to use.

It may well take less time, 48 hours maybe, but I know for sure 72 will make it safe. Keeping it in sun light speeds it up, but again I'm not entirely clear on it.

Don't worry though. It's resolvable :)

Thank you!!! I was very worried that I was going to harm my fish.

I had one of these tanks. It was a nightmare to keep under control. I believe that after 24 hours the water is safe, but longer is better. You can always go to your LFS and see if they could give you samples. It's worth a shot.

I've already checked and they don't, but thanks for the suggestion.

i use sodium thiosulphate which is super cheap look it up.
for under £5i can treat 1000's of litres of water.

Try writing on kijiji if someone has any dechlorinator left after giving up the hobby.....or someone willing to give you some of theirs!
