Take Out Fish With New Plants?

im putting my first live plant in my aquarium tonight..

its a brackish tank with a spotted puffer.. do i need to take him out when i put the plant in for a while or is it ok..

and do i just bury the roots under my gravel like a fake plant.. or do i need some sort of dirt in my tank?

plant is going to be java moss and java fern

Both plants will do better tied to a rock or piece of wood, see the sticky on this forum about tying moss or just tie it flat onto the rock or wood and it will attach. You don’t need any dirt in the tank for those plants. No need to take the puffer out!

why do i tie it to a rock.. couldint i just bury it under the gravel and it will root and grow?


also will my fern grow more leaves that i can eventually slice and get 2 java ferns out of one bundle.. like reproduceing ?
