Hi all,

I got two female Bettas about a week ago, and they 'seem' OK, they are eating fine, but they seem to have their tails 'closed' not clamped but not flowing, and I was wondering, is that OK? because most photos you see of bettas are with their tails loose and all..

Thanks, D.

photos please. girls dont have flowing fins, but shouldnt be clamped...

Liz,

My camera is only a 2MP, so it would be a really, excruciatingly bad photo..

Thanks.

My phonecam isn't even 1 megapixel and all the pics in my signature were taken on it. So I doubt you have to worry!

If you mean the majority of peoples pictures of their bettas show fins spread, its because most use a mirror when they take the picture to show the full beauty of the fish looking its best. Not all bettas fins are spread out all the time, they relax them when they're not visually stimulated.

If you think there is something wrong or different than usual then by all means carry on :good:

i second that! bettas are usually displayed "flared". fins all spread and whatnot. it's when they look their best so people typically show them off in such a manor. usually their fins are much more "loose".

Another idea... are you keeping your females together in the same tank? It's possible that they have nipped at each other and they have rips or tears so they are not fanning their fins.

Also, Pics would help, even if it's a crappy picture, at least it's something to go on.
