Would this fishes tail be considered an undesirable trait in any way? (Im specically talking about the end of it, where it looks like a piece is missing.) Thanks in advance :good:

Probably undesirable in the show scene yes. Whether its there due to damaged caused earlier in its life or whether somewhere back in its genetics someone has used a Double tail in the line, is hard to tell.
My hunch would be early stage damage. You never know, it may grow out :good:

What a stunning looking fish, it looks like a dark chocolate colour or is that the lighting? I love the way it has sky blue streaks and tips to its fins aswell, never seen anything quite like it

were did you get that fish? it is beautiful!!

it may grow back, but even if it dosent it still looks unique and beautiful!

Well he was full grown when I got him 2 weeks ago, so I think its going stay like that. Im pretty sure he was a show cull due to the tail. I got him for 8us dollars. If I have to cull him from my program he will be free.LOL
In regards to his color I think he is a black betta with some light blue finnage. He also has a very faint red wash, you can see it more in the top pic as the lighting I was using was way more than in the bottom pic. (If my color description is wrong, please correct me.)
Thanks for all the compliments! :)

Wow, he's gorgeous! Judging by the way the damaged ray is actually twisted over, it looks as though this is some sort of damage (maybe a nip caused by fry of different sizes being together) caused while the physical structure of the tail was still developing. Quite probably a show cull, but fine for breeding as I seriously doubt this will be hereditary.
