Tahitian Moon Sand

Expensive...

Worth it. It'll settle completly in just hours, and the colors are lovely.

I mixed black and white in the bottom and have been amazed at the coloration mix with my plants.

Go for it if you got cash :good:

i'm wanting to change my 10 gal betta tank from gravel to sand, and i saw this online today and thought it looked really nice. it does seem kind of expensivve though

Worth every penny.

I'd suggest black for going with one color, because pure white shows doody easily.

And black contrast with wood and plants nicely.

it settles in mere hours, compared to the days with normal sand, retains color, looks best, and my fish love staying on top of it. My candy stripe pleco even perfers it to the rocks he always hangs on!

dont go one color if your doing tahitian moon sand.. mix the black and white moon sand. i completly lost my pleco when i hade just black lol took me 4 hrs to find him and he was burried in the sand.

Be careful of the black when stuff is still floating in the water. The water will stain you.

And I do like my mix in my 38. 40 pounds total, Black and white mix. Quite excellent. Everyone will get to see pics when I get my Christmas camera!

I love it but rinse it really really well before you put it in the tank. The silt won't settle easy.

This tank I rinsed it well and it I think is the reason why my filter broke - lost 9 fish since then (long story). I think the first few days I stirred up the sand to avoid gas pockets and some got into the filter. I have a small filter block over the intake to avoid this in the future.

It is very pretty - black still shows the doodoo though : ) I had no idea that snails poo as much as they do!

All sand has silt not just tahitian moon. Just rinse it a lot before you put it in. i washed a bowl of sand 5 times before putting it in the tank and it settled in about 5 min.

if want to mix sand but don't want to spend so much money you could mix play sand and black tahitian moon instead of the white moon as suggested above.

Well worth the money, imo. The white color sand shows fish poo and stuff easily though. I used white on my first tank(15 gallon) and found it to be a big mistake. I would go for the black colored sand instead and you'll be more than happy with it as it is really hard to see the fish poo on the sand and it looks awesome!

I have the black sand in my 55 Gallon tank and it's so much more better than having gravel in the tank. If you keep cory's or loaches, they'll appreciate the sand!

I like it. Got it in a 29g with my sterbai. Only downside is they're sometmes hard to spot. Just see orangish fins moving around.

I'm going to buy more of it and the white moonlight sand in a month or two for future use. I've seen the price slowly climbing up on it recently.

Could I use it with an undergravel filter or will it mess it up?

It's possible to modify a UGF to work with sand but with the normal setup, you can't use sand.

So what would be the best way to change from my gravel and an UGF to sand without stressing the fish too much?
