HI
quick question on whether to go for t8 upgrade on my small 80 L tank or stick with t5s?
cheers
rob

Going to T8s from T5 would be considered a downgrade rather then an upgrade. It is more down to a choice of what plants you want to keep and what technologies like CO2 injection etc. you want to impliment.

I have only ever had T8s on my tanks but then I rarely grow plants like glosso or riccia. On ocassions I had a high tech planted tank, I was using halides but that is an overkill for a freshwater tank.

Nim yes you are right i types 5 and 8 the worng way round, basically i have a Tbar that needs rpleacing and i wondered if going to 5s was beinficial from a plant growth perspective on a relatively shallow tank?

Def go for T5's they look better IMO, and you get more light for your money/bulk of the tube, plus buying bulbs for T5 i find cheap if ordered from http://www.lampspecs.co.uk/Light-Bulbs-Tubes/Pet-Care I like the grolux, but there are many options!
I have had better growth by far since swapping to T5's due to the increased Watts per Gallon. I also think T5's work out cheaper in the long run.
hope that helps :good:

Quick question - any one recoomend a good place to but a new T5 Bar?
