I've just won 2 39W T5 light fittings on ebay. They come with reflectors. I paid just over £35 for the two. Is that a good price?
Suppose I should know this before I bid but I didn't think I'd win it. I usually get outbid in the last few seconds.

I guess those are 48" each?

I would not buy lights from ebay. they could be used (which decreases their output) and also that price looks steep...

it says light fittings rather than just bulbs, in which case £35 sounds really good to me.

I would also recommend putting new bulbs in.

Sounds good to me. What manufacturer are they? Will they go onto your Rio 400 easily? Arcadia make a new T5 bulb especially for plants, I think it's Pro-Plant.

Keep us updated, I'm thinking of going T5 but the retro-fit model for my Rio 125 cost £130.

I'm really hoping that the units will fit under the hood of the Rio 400. If not hten I will either have to canabalise the units or sell them on. The y are d-d aquarium solutions units. Not a bad make I think.
The reason I bought them is because I've just added a DIY CO2 setup to the tank and I want the plants to go nuts! The Hygo. Polysperma has already put out more new shoots than I have ever seen it have. Just want the right lights to go with it now so that everything else can grow like mad too.

Got the units yesterday. THEY FIT!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice sturdy aluminium units too. Just need to get a couple of bulbs now. But what type? Time for a new thread I think!
