Very excited getting my new lighting. It's a Deep Blue Aquatics Solarmax HD 248. Makes the tank look sooooooo much better especially with the moonlight LED's. Can't wait to get it fully cycled and stocked :hyper: These are the different lighting settings from moonlight to full sun. Hopefully the show here how they really look.

Wow! very impressive. I've seen some others too but that has what, like 4 or 5 settings? Are they individually controlled on board?

The LED moonlights stay on so you can view your fish all the time. It has independent switches for the blue(early day) light and the bright white(day) light. The only unfortunate thing about this particular light is that the user has to turn on the blue and white lights manually. No way to use timer if you want to have the moonlight on and cycle thru to day light automatically. I suppose there are other, much more expensive lights that can do this but everyone has a limit :/ I paid about $85(US) Not being auto is not that big of an issue though for me. Just to have the ability to change settings to improve the surroundings for the fish is nice. Plus the moonlight setting is REALLY COOL!!!!!

Thanks
Steve

Yup, I got my son a ZooMed T5 light that has 2 bulbs that are independently controlled by 2 switches but the share the same cord. That sucks because I can't overlap the lighting using timers. I might try to hotrod it though because I make signs and the tech is very similar if not the same. It's really all about the transformer & the ballasts with signs anyway..........

Please don't hesitate to share that info if you get it to work. :good: I worked in a sign shop years ago. Unfortunately I was the painter, not the fabricator or neon tech. I wired plenty of neon but wasn't concerned how or why it worked. I get the basics so I can understand what you would tell me and I'm pretty handy.

Note- I did get blasted on a service call when I proceeded to attempt to remove a broken neon housing and genius shop owner by-passed the switch and turned the sign ON!!!!!!! WOW that sucked!!!!

I'm a graphic artist/designer & salesman. I'm pretty handy too but I'm asking guys in the shop, not attempting on my own really. I will let you know if it works or not. I also have a brand new Nova Extreme T5 unit that has 2 bulbs & I want to do the same with it if possible. I just want the colormax bulb to come on for 3 hours by itself, then have the daylight bulb come on together with the colormax for 3 hours, then have the colormax shut off while the daylight stays on for an additional 3 hours by itself.

Not too much to ask is it?:blink:

That type of timing is exactly what I want to have. Please let me know if you find a solution.

Thanks
Steve

Just realized where you are located. I lived in Wake Forest for 16yrs. We had a great little shop there- Aquarium Outfitters. Ever been? If not, you should check them out. I haven't lived there for a couple years but when I was there, their selection was really good and I never got a bad fish from them. Actually, a bunch of my fish went there when I had to move to NY.

Strangely enough I'm from New York myself........Long Island to be exact. Now I live in Clayton North Carolina with the rednecks lol. It's much better here than there, especially the taxes and the real estate market.

Of course I've been to Aquarium Outfitters, that's where I got the beautiful Pearl Gourami male in my avatar.I also got a couple of Lemon Tetras there as well as one of my Bristlenose Plecos, my digital thermometer, a glass top for a 20 gallon, etc. Good folks, just a little expensive. I got a BN from them for $12.99 and the next day I paid $2.99 for the same size at the Fish Room in Raleigh.

I had only been to the Fish Room once. I think they had just opened before I left. Nice place. I loved it in NC :good: Taxes were amazingly low compared to here- Rochester. I grew up here so nothing new but after being there, it really amazes how anyone would choose to live here!!!! My only issue there was the heat when I first moved  It took a few years for the blood to thin out. Still not very pleasant stepping outside @ 6am and start sweating

Dude! My friend Rich Ratchford moved to Rochester about 9 years ago! Maybe you know him? He plays bass and was my bass player in my band in NY

Not really into the night life anymore. Who does he play with? What was your band? A good friend of mine back in high school plays drums and moved to NYC years ago. He still plays with several bands that do shows in and around NYC. His name is Mike Maenza.

I'd rather not post the name of the bands here but I was just curious. No, I don't recognize your friend either.
