does ne1 kno anything about these t5 lights. im going to make a 125 gallon planted aquarium and was wondering if i should get the t5. how many watts would i need for this size?(not using co2)or not planning to neway,.
here is a link to 1 site selling the controllers. is this a reasonable price, worth buying?

Without CO2 T5 lighting is probably a bit of an overkill. Too much light and not enough growth and your in algae heaven! Be careful!

yer ure right but even in a non co2 aquarium its recomended to have between 1-2 watts per gallon so in a 125 gallon i will need loads of florescent lights. using loads of power. what do you think about getting 100 watts of T5 or is that too much? The reason im not using co2 is cos the tank will be quite well stocked with fish, and i want plenty of oxygen for them.

I upgrade to T5, 300watt 100gallon tank, trippled my lighting in one go - major problems algae ect.. I was injecting Co2. biggest problems with t5 is the lack of tubes.

The more plants you put in the more oxygen you'll have. Plants PRODUCE oxygen during the day and use very little at night.

Also the wpg rule is for medium sized tanks of 20-40 gallons. A larger tank like yours will not need as much light.

T5 lighting also penetrates the water better then other bulbs.. as well they have more lumens.

therefore you can conclude that although they do not have more wattage they are still increasing your lighting availible to your plants
