Going for a pendant w/chains cant decide between a 2 X 54W T5 or a 3 X 39W T5 Im thinking in a 240L tank the 3 X 39W should put me comfortably into the medium light bracket ? The company Im looking at also have a 4 X 39W as well.

39W x 3 = 117 watts
39W x 4 = 156 watts

240L = 52.7 UK gallons

117W / 52.7 Uk Gallons = 2.22 WPG
156w / 52.7 UK Gallons = 2.96 WPG

Thats right I think ?

Will be used in conjuction with FE C02

Which would be better to get decent medium light ?

Think im leaning more towards the 4x atm but ill hold off ordering till someone more experienced (to be fair this would be 99.9% of the planted tank section :lol:) Chips in :good:

I wouldn't go to crazy on the light 2.2 wpg is classed as mid light, with T5's do you know if they are high output or normal T5's? You will have less margin for error when in comes to C02-ferts-flow with the lower light. From what i ahve used and seen other members used, in journals and real life, i would always stick to lower light, especially if your going to be a newb to C02. What other ferts are you going to be using and have you got plenty of flow around your tank?

Lights say 10'000 kelvin tropical white.

At the moment ive been using TPN/TPN + on alternate days and Easy Carbo as well as root tabs etc

Filtration is approx 10X between the 305 External and the Fluval U4 internal. Flowwise I was thinking about Koralia to increase it perhaps ?

If 2.2 is midlight then 3x may well be the option just wanted to make sure i was def out of the low light arena.

Did you mean more margin of error with the 2.2 WPG ?
