i tryed to use my syphon http://www.gardensite.co.uk/Easy_Aquarium_Syphon_Set.htm?sourcep=base

to clean up fish waste but it seem and it dose not suck to hard as the waste just gose round in the pipe then when i left it off the base it all falls out of the syphon i have tryed wave it just over the sand bed but same

dont know if its the syphon or me ? cant seem to pull the fish waste out of the tank with it

is it me or am i missing some this ? :look:

i also have this issue, its as if the fish poo is too heavy. what i do is net the large poo out and syphon the rest

arr did not think about net make tank clowned but hay got to be better then this just sucking up sand all the fish pop seems like its to heavy or some thing ?

I think the large end is too wide to allow proper vaccum to be created. Could see were it may work better when shoved down into gravel. Might try a section of garden hose maybe five or six feet long and see if this does not work better.
I use a Python and have noticed that if I remove the large end,the vaccum power increases. also noted that the longer the hose,,the less vaccum power.
I discovered removing the large end from my vaccum while attempting to vaccum out snails. They just seemed to bob about in the cylinder. when I pulled off the large end of the vaccum,,the snails (oops gravel too) quickly got sucked up the hose and into my bucket.

I just use a bit of clear hose about 5/8" diameter, the water flow is faster so you can just hover the end of the hose about 5mm off the surface of the sand and it sucks the poo up just fine :) If you use a wide siphon, the diamter is bigger so you get a much slower flow which can't shift the muck without digging down into it.
