you probably mean auchenoglanis occidentalis which grows big! about 2 feet i think. but yeah they are found all over africa and found in some of the lakes. btw the synodontis brichardi grows to 8 inches in comparison.

Oh yes thats it I looked it up. His is like a foot and half in a huge tank by itself . He said it came from a cichlid lake so thought one of the lakes that the pet store cichlids come from . I thought it might be related to synodontis but I was wrong.
Think he has had it for years.
hi lia. I think a brichardi will be very happy in a 55 gallon tank. they are a lovely looking fish.
MAMMA FISH, what are you going on about, are you saying mine is not a brichardi, half asleep today, and, chicken dance
???not saying that I ever follow what you are talking about, but even more so today.
Yes they are lovely fish . I am going to read up on them as considering them now. I am new to cichlids I dont have any but the tank is set up and African cichlids are my choice so reading up on fish types.
My other tank is a planted tropical tank with peaceful community fish . I am not used to fish fighting so reading about cichlids seems lots will kill each other. Tank is only 55 so that limits me .
thanks
