Although i dont really like them, i need some bright colored fish to brigten up the tank..since it will be the first thing visitors see when they come in :) I am looking for lyretail ones...

i used to own a 10 gallon tank and my platties were very sneaky on my cories...are the swordtails the same? also it maybe becasue my tank was so small? i know what my rasboras are mean too..and nips..but will be cories be disturbed? tank is 55 gallons

My swordies get along perfectly with my corys. I've never had a hint of a problem between them. I have a 55 gal and a 75 gal with nothing but corys and swordies. The lyretails are my favorites but all my swordies have great personalitys.

Yeah - we're the same - we've got swordtails and cory's and they really take no notice of each other. both seem to be dead peacelovin'!!!!

Remember though - swordtails will reproduce on an epic scale if you mix the genders. And I have read (although have no experience) that two male swordies don't get on?!

However, swordtails in my experience get on with everything.

10gallon tank is too small for swordtails unless you are only planning on getting 2 feamles, 15gallons is realy the minimum though. Why not try some guppys :) ? they are much more suited to a 10gallon tank although i would avoid delta tailed/long tailed ones if your have nippy fish in there as they'll become easy targets for the rasboras; how many fish do you currently have in the tank?

Swordies will do fine in your 55gal but I am not sure lyretails and rasboras will do well together. I was under the impression(correct me if I am wrong) that the boras are fin-nippers. It would be a shame to have lyretails ruined by some nasty little nippers. I have several Normal Swords in my 30gal and they get along with everyone.

I have a school of 10 rasboras in the 10gal quar tank with my lyretail swordy and they get along fine. It has been nearly a week now and none of the rasboras have gone anywhere near the swordy. She does have an ominous presence in the tank though. All the other fish are scared of her inclusing my male swordy and new female platy
