My swordtail platy has some silver underneath it's head. The only thing that i think it is, is that it is old and could just be that the scales and color are fading! does this happen? any help i can get would be great!!

Do you have a Swordtail or a Platy? I'm confused...

Anyway, can you describe this a little more? Is it fluffy? What are your water params?

And usually, colors do not fade in fish unless they are sick...he may have scraped off a few scales though, or gotten bitten there or something....

It is a swordtail! it is not fluffy, its just silver, but u can't see any outline of any scales. It has nothing in the tank that could bite it, It;s just it and guppies!!

Hmmm...could you possibly take a picture of this? :)

Guppies could bite it...but that's not likely. Anything sharp in the tank it could have scraped itself on? Is it still eating? No other signs of anything? Does it look bothered by this?

Sorry for all the questions! :*)

It's fine, It eats, i will try to get a picture up within the next few days, It is hard to photograph because it's on the bottom. Thank you for trying!

You're welcome. Sorry I couldn't be of much help though!

Once you have a picture, I can probably help more, along with other people. It sounds to me right now like he scraped it on something. Just watch it and make sure it doesn't get infected, or fungused or anything. :)
