 My Swordtail, Trestles, just had babies. I think she became pregnant at the store and I bought her not knowing it would be buy one, get 15 free! :p ha ha!
I walked over to her hospital tank(because she has tail rot, poor girl! :-( ) At first I didn't see anything so I went to feed the fish in my 20 gallon when one of my friends yelled "OH MY GOSH! TRESTLES HAD BABIES!" Cool story huh?
My question is: The babies are tiny and a bunch of them have been aborted. Could she have been under stress from the tail rot and had them early? Please help because I have never had swordtails before, much less had them have babies. Is there anything special that I need to do for them if they are premature?
HELP!!!!!
Oh yeah, I was using Maradell for the tail rot in thier mom, could that harm the fry?

Hi seamonster - congratulations to you and trestles!! Fry are very sensitive and will not like being in a tank with medications do you have another tank where they will be safe from being eaten (almost any fish will try and eat them if they can fit int their mouths!) Any special care nope, just ground up fish flakes work a treat make you they're really fine especially if they babies are really small, grind them up between ur fingers!

read this also if u hvaen't already: http://fish.orbust.net/livebearers.html congratulations!
